Cultural Places Around UT

The University of Texas prides itself on having a culturally diverse campus that is friendly and welcoming.  Diversity is important to a university with such prestige as it fosters an environment where people with different perspectives, cultures, and backgrounds, can congregate and exchange ideas.  This cultural diversity is what drives some students to attend a university like the University of Texas. They want to expand their horizons and be able to experience other cultures.

The University has also created special places around campus dedicated to the enrichment and preservation of culture.

One of the most recognizable and fundamental buildings committed to the preservation of culture and the study of arts and humanities is the Harry Ransom Center.

The Harry Ransom Center was founded in 1957 by Professor Harry Hunt Ransom, and has since expanded to include millions of historical and rare manuscripts and books. The two most distinguished pieces in the Ransom's Center is a Gutenberg Bible and Nicephore Niepce's View from the Window at Le Gras, the first recorded photograph.
